This table is made from Saligna wood and features Kumiko made from Iroko. The legs are solid tapered hexagons with a hand carved bottom crossbeam. It is sealed with a combination of linseed oil and beeswax. I harvested the timber used from a fallen tree and milled it into usable stock in order to create this table.
Balance is found in Nature features the Asanoha Mon’yo pattern – a hexagonal geometric pattern abstracted from the shape of the hemp leaf. Hemp is known for its rapid growth and strong fibers, which makes this radiating shape a symbol of vitality and fast growth. This pattern conveys a sense of expansion and is considered auspicious. Additionally, hemp was believed to ward off diseases and evil spirits, giving the pattern a protective role as well. The hexagonal pattern represents balance and harmony, offering a sense of stability and peace.
